The CDS Envirocure system has many uses throughout the whole concrete manufacturing industry. From paving, block, through to pipe and large pre-cast items. For decorative through to structural. The CDS Envirocure system can be designed to suit most applications. It's flexibility is one of it's major advantages, having total flexibility that can create the ideal curing conditions, no matter what the product is.

It's flexibility also makes it advantageous if producers wish to produce different products from one plant. For example, a paver producer could also produce blocks or kerbs. The system is totally flexible with its operating parameters which enables the fastest turnaround of product, with the highest product quality and the lowest manufacturing cost.

 

Whether the producer is in the cooler climates of Northern Europe or North America - or in the more temperate climates of Southern Europe or the Middle East - Envirocure offers the producers the advantages no other system can. By keeping the environment within the kiln, non-condensing conditions can be maintained and climatic conditions, heat of hydration and product throughput can be taken into account to maintain optimum curing conditions.

The advantages of the Envirocure system are numerous - from the possibility of cement reduction through to secondary processing online. It has the flexibility to enable the producer to maximise the system and create the conditions required for their production facility.

The CDS Envirocure system offers all the above plus much, much more for any producer of pre-cast concrete.

Once any concrete product is formed, it is essential that it is placed into a protective environment to initiate the curing process. An environment which assists curing by increasing the speed of the curing process produces a stronger end product. This protective environment is Envirocure. With controlled temperature and humidity conditions, the system will maintain the required conditions 24 hours per day, 365 days per year if so desired.


EnviroCure II

The Envirocure II system is specifically designed to give the flexibility of having different controlled parameters in each kiln / lane. This enables different product groups to be cured at differing control parameters.

So, if desired, the customer can produce retaining wall, block and paving on the same shift and cure them at different temperatures and humidity levels, however maintaining the desired air circulation for constant conditions and the high level of energy efficiencies expected of all CDS Systems.

Many small to medium size producers of concrete products do not require a fully automated plant and therefore only require a more compact curing system.

CDS has installed many systems for such producers that allows the products to be cured in the same approach as the ENVIROCURE (LINK) System. IE total control of temperature, humidity, airflow, along with time and well insulated structure. Keeping in mind that the running costs are extremely important and ensuring that the curing system operates at the lowest possible cost per piece.

The CDS Batch Cure System incorporates all the features of the Envirocure along with the ability to cycle the curing chambers as fast as possible without any detriment to product quality.

For some manufacturers of particularly delicate products CDS has now enhanced its Envirocure system with its Radtherm system.

This system has a very low air circulation speed but having all the advantages of the Envirocure system. The system was mainly developed to use with the roof tile industry, but can be utilised in other areas.

The basic system utilises either a low or medium pressure hot water system to generate the heat energy within the curing room. This, with gentle air circulation and exact humidity control can provide some producers with an opportunity of achieving a greater product quality which was not possible before.

The design has been developed with energy saving also in mind. With a fully recirculatory LPHW/MPHM system, any energy that is generated remains in the system. In a multiple chamber system this can be extremely energy efficient.

The Radtherm system, as with Envirocure, can be designed to operate on a variety of products and can easily be retro-fitted if so desired.

With the Envirocure System CDS has installed many systems that allow a completely automated plant to work within the curing environment.

To do this CDS can enclose the automation equipment, i.e. Finger Car, Crawler etc without any detriment to the equipment as the equipment operates in the same conditions constantly in a non-condensing atmosphere.

Major advantages of such systems are that the product can be within the curing environment very soon after being manufactured. Thus increasing the time that the product is exposed to the curing conditions. Therefore enabling manufacturers to carry out cost reduction exercises on their product or possible secondary processing.

The Big Room - Vestibule system has been mainly used in the Block and Paving sectors, however it can also be used in the wet cast, pipe and veneer stone sectors also.

As CDS developed its curing systems it became apparent that there was a demand in some areas for the raw material entering a manufacturing facility also to be kept as a constant.

Thus, CDS has now developed its own Aggregate Heating System that can provide manufacturers an extremely cost effective solution to bringing cold aggregates and sands into the plant at a constant temperature and enable the producer to operate the plant for a longer period through the year as well as taking another variable out of the manufacturing process.

The MaxThaw system uses well proven technology used by CDS for many years. The aggregates/sands can be loaded into the storage bins/silos and over a short period of time can be heated to the desired temperature. The aggregate/sand is heated by using a very flexible system where warm air is blown into the bins in specific areas and the temperatures controlled accurately. The system design blends into the CDS philosophy of taking away a variable, while being energy efficient, user friendly and consistent.

CDS can provide a system that can be installed on a new plant or retro-fitted onto an existing plant.

 

Racking

A high manufacturing capacity is the rule in the concrete and assembly unit industry. Fully automatic production lines, often working in several shifts, produce thousands of square meters of concrete stone daily. Curb stones, hollow stones and elements for market gardening are other production examples.

The curing chambers made by HS Anlagentechnik are the logistical link between the wet and dry sides of these production lines. The newly manufactured elements have to be put in storage, the hardened elements have to be taken out of storage, then packed ready for dispatch. The required storage capacity has to be available - stabile, strong, exactly fitting.

HS Anlagentechnik is a young innovative team which has inherited 30 years' experience in shelf construction. But that's not all. Their understanding of the product and the whole trade as well as a perfectly thought-out rack system complete the range.

Our Distinct Profile
One profile is not the same as another. The basic material used for the curing chambers made by HS Anlagentechnik is specially galvanised strip steel manufactured according to DIN EN ISO 9002 (of EU derivation) for all supporting parts. Top quality offering corrosion protection of at least 70u pure galvanising. The steel strip for the bearer profiles is cold-formed in a rolling automat, where it gets the contour needed in the finished rack for the Snap-In connection with all its constructive advantages.

The Snap-In Connection
Fast, safe, unmovable - just fit and screw. Simply slot in, press down - and the lasting connection of the support and bearer profiles is set up. The steel components are locked together precisely and exact to the millimeter. The ideal Snap-In connection offers many advantages. The simple assembly saves time. The extreme stiffness of the curing chambers allows maximum static loading and highest loading capacity. Technique that means cost-saving and safe production - technique for professionals.

Capacity and Planning Made to Measure
HS Anlagentechnik supplies curing chambers as a unit system where 2-5 chamber aisles are combined together to form a frame. For instance, 10 chamber aisles can consist of 2 five chamber combinations or 2 four chamber combinations and a 2 chamber combination. The number of storage spaces required can be planned individually and easily expanded. Each of these constructed units forms an individual, absolutely rigid element which has its own static stability. The big advantage: curing chambers made by HS Anlagentechnik are self-supporting and stand on their own. The don't need support from the sides or above. More safety for heavily loaded storage systems in permanent use.

Of course, there are the manufacturers who demand little or no air movement, so therefore we are able to design the system using our wealth of knowledge which would provide the system and environment specified by the customer.

A CDS Envirocure Curing System allows the plant to run in a closed loop.

Curing starts immediately after a chamber is filled with product, and depalletising of the cured products starts as soon as the curing cycle is completed for that product run.

 

The system is pre-programmed to ensure that chambers are opened at the exact time when the product is cured to the required specification.

CDS curing chambers are designed to account for heat transfer to the concrete pipe and the required humidity. Heat and moisture balance over the curing time is precise.

 

Dry Cast Curing

The curing process is particularly important with dry-cast mixes. Adequate curing enhances the desirable properties of concrete, such as strength, impermeability, surface hardness, and crack resistance. Early curing periods are most critical to ensure protection from extreme temperatures and dryness. Dry cast products must be protected from drafts to prevent cracking due to surface moisture.

Concrete can not cure properly without an adequate amount of water in the mix. And, because the forms are removed immediately, dry cast products have an undesirable tendency to dry too quickly. Consequently, a dedicated curing area, such as an insulated enclosure with misters, is generally required.

A normal curing cycle for dry cast products includes a preset period of about two hours, a ramp period (to raise ambient temperature to the desired curing temperature) of four to six hours. These curing cycles will vary with the type of product being cured.

Curing in a controlled, moist environment dramatically increases the concrete's rate of strength development. In many cases, full design strengths can be achieved in one day.

Note: Curing begins after the exposed surfaces of the concrete have hardened sufficiently to resist marring. Curing ensures the continued hydration of the cement and the strength gain of the concrete. Concrete surfaces are cured by water. The longer the concrete is kept moist, the stronger and more durable it will become. The rate of hardening depends upon the composition and fineness of the cement, the mix proportions, and the moisture and temperature conditions. Most of the hydration and strength gain take place within the first month of concrete's life cycle, but hydration continues at a slower rate for many years. Concrete continues to get stronger as it gets older.

Hydration Begins
Soon after the aggregates, water, and the cement are combined, the mixture starts to harden. All portland cements are hydraulic cements that set and harden through a chemical reaction with water. During this reaction, called hydration, a node forms on the surface of each cement particle. The node grows and expands until it links up with nodes from other cement particles or adheres to adjacent aggregates.

Containerized solutions provide a convenient way to safely and securely house the air circulation, heating and conditioning equipment in a centralised location away from the production floor.
